“I am both Tommy Versailles and Tomasin Valvassori,” says the Flatbush, Brooklyn New York artist. Versailles can genuinely do it and combines her talent with raw emotion that’s guaranteed to make you feel “something”. What that something is depends on what Tommy exudes which is a true mark of her range as an artist. One second her powerful voice points attention to the incredible ups and deep downs of a relationship, the next she’s providing a Saturday night banger to dance the night away to. Tommy Versailles can swerve in and out of lanes as she pleases and her pinpoint execution means you’ll find a piece of yourself in Tommy’s art. As we head deeper into 2021, Versailles promises new music and new content, now’s the time to press play.
From the jump Tommy Versailles was thrust into the music, every single soul in her immediate family sings (mom, dad, brother, sister and grandmother). “Each of these people in my life have provided me access to all genres of music from a diverse group of decades,” Versailles says. “This really influences how I hear and create music.” Versailles was performing seemingly from the minute she was able to speak, performing in the church’s children’s choir all the way through Middle School. At the time though even Versailles admits that she wasn’t confident enough to create her own music. In high school the young prodigy was a Musical Theatre major, inspired by the way the emotion, the lyrics and music combined to create something “magical”. Versailles picked up multiple lead roles, but stayed focused on learning and adding more skills to her already packed belt. “This really prepared me to perform with bigger audiences but still having to connect with people you cannot see,” Versailles recalls. “This is also where I received most of my formal training. I owe a lot to the teachers I had in High School.” Tommy Versailles brings every essence of artistry she’s picked up on her journey and applied it to the music she’s creating now.
Tommy Versailles is an experience to be felt, the minute you press play on her art you’re whisked to some place different. Sometimes, it’s a painful period Versailles went through with another that she trusted, sometimes, it’s her putting a humorous spin on the annoyances she’s run into. The music is varied and is guaranteed to evoke some emotion from the listener, “I want people to know that creating sonically interesting music is most important to me, and writing relatable content is next,” Tommy Versailles explains. Versailles’ voice is an instrument that she uses to get her message across, “I don’t think I’m married to any particular genre of music,” Versailles says, “I create in feelings and my sound changes with that.” After releasing a triplet of singles with Mr. Belefanti, Versailles really understood the potential she had as an artist and it gave her the spark to really pursue a career.
Her voice imbued with passion, this eventually led to Versailles' debut album “The Broken Palace” , her current magnum opus. The New York artist put all of herself into this project and it shines through on this project. You can hear the musical theater influence in tracks like “Gaslight King” but the entire project permeates emotion and if you don’t tap directly into her story, you’ll be reminded of your own. Her dedication and willingness to go deep and express herself through the art can be hard to find in this day and age, Tommy Versailles isn’t close to finished yet either. The Flatbush native is looking forward to continuing her journey as an artist and admittedly doesn’t want to be boxed in by her previous releases. “I don’t think the singles would be a definitive representation of my music, nor would “The Broken Palace” Tommy explains, “I am going to be one of those artists where you never know what to expect musically but as soon as I start singing, you know that’s Tommy Versailles.” With over 18K streams on Apple Music and Spotify alone, others like Wavy Pack, Skyzoo, and more have taken notice.

Backpocket
Explore "Backpocket," an 80s-inspired single addressing capitalism's undercurrents. Lyrically influenced by Kali Uchis' "Your Teeth In My Neck," it combines nostalgic synths and hard-hitting melodies with sharp reflections on the capitalist system. The track shines a light on society's fixation with the corporate ladder, urging listeners to confront the harsh realities beneath. Enjoy catchy hooks and thought-provoking lyrics that marry a retro vibe with modern themes, inviting dance, contemplation, and reparation.
